Pricing
How much does a website cost in Columbus?
Our sites run from $100 to $500 per month with a one-time setup fee of $0 to $2,500, sized to the site you actually need. A 5-page starter site has no setup fee. Run the cost estimator for a real range in under a minute, or book a Zoom for a firm quote.
Why a monthly plan instead of one big upfront price?
The monthly plan covers your hosting, security, SSL, backups, updates, and ongoing support, so you are not handed a finished site and left on your own. It keeps the upfront cost low and the site maintained for as long as you stay with us.
Is the pricing actually fixed, or will it creep up?
You get the plan price you sign up for, with no surprise line items and no hidden fees. We publish our rates on the pricing page because most agencies in this field hide them, and we would rather you know the number before you ever talk to us.
What does the setup fee depend on?
It scales with the size and complexity of the build: page count, custom features, e-commerce, and how much content needs to be created from scratch. A small starter site is $0; a larger custom site with more pages and functionality lands toward the higher end.
How much does SEO cost?
SEO starts at $500 per month and is separate from your web design plan. It is ongoing work, not a one-time setup, so we are honest that it is a commitment rather than a quick switch you flip once.
Process & timelines
How long does it take to build my site?
A 5-page starter site can launch in 2 to 3 days. A custom 10-page site is usually about a week. The biggest variable is how fast we get your photos and content, so we help you gather those up front.
What does the process look like from start to launch?
It is four steps: a free 30-minute Zoom to map out what your site needs to do, then we design and build it, then you review it live and we refine, then we take it live and get you found on Google. You see real progress at each stage, not a black box.
How many revisions do I get?
Two rounds of revisions are built into every project. You review the site live and tell us what to change, and we keep refining until it is right before anything goes public.
What do you need from me to get started?
Mainly your content: logo, photos, the basics about your services, and a sense of what a good customer is worth to you. If you do not have polished photos or copy yet, we help with that so it is not a roadblock.
Can you redesign my existing website?
Yes. Whether you are starting fresh or fixing a site that is slow, dated, or not bringing in customers, we redesign it and move everything over cleanly. Run your current site through the free health check first to see where it stands.
SEO & getting found
Will my site show up on Google?
Every site we build ships SEO-ready: clean structure, proper titles, fast load times, and mobile-first design so Google can crawl and rank it. That gets the foundation right; competitive keywords and Google Business Profile work are where ongoing SEO comes in.
What is the difference between the SEO that is included and the SEO plan?
Included means your site is built correctly so it can rank: structure, speed, titles, and a secure, mobile-first build. The $500/month SEO plan is the ongoing work of earning rankings for the searches your customers actually use, which takes consistent effort over months.
How long until I rank for what I want?
For local and lower-competition terms you can see movement in a few months; competitive Columbus terms take longer and depend on your starting point. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is selling you something we would not.
Do you do local SEO for Columbus businesses?
Yes, and it is where most local businesses get the fastest return. That means your Google Business Profile, local listings, and pages built around the neighborhoods and services you want to be found for.
Ownership, hosting & maintenance
Do I own my website?
Yes, completely, and it is in writing. The design, the code, the domain, and every account are yours. We never lease websites or hold a domain hostage, so you can leave whenever you want and take it all with you.
Who hosts the site, and is hosting included?
Hosting is included in your monthly plan, along with SSL, backups, and security, so you are not chasing a separate hosting bill or setting anything up yourself. If you ever leave, the site and domain are yours to move.
What does maintenance cover?
Your plan keeps the site fast, secure, and up to date: software updates, monitoring, backups, SSL, and the small fixes that keep things running. You are not paying a separate retainer or per-hour rate for routine upkeep.
Can I make edits myself, or do I have to come to you?
Either works. For most clients it is faster to send us the change and we handle it, usually same day for small updates. If you want to edit content yourself, we can set you up for that too.
After launch
What happens after my site goes live?
We take it live, make sure it is fast and secure, and keep it that way. You are not handed the keys and forgotten; the monthly plan means we are still on the hook for hosting, updates, and support.
What if something breaks or I need a change?
You email or call us and we handle it. Small content updates are typically same day, and because we host and maintain the site, there is no finger-pointing between a designer and a separate host.
Do you offer any guarantee?
Yes. We back the work and want you genuinely happy with the result, which is the whole point of two revision rounds and a live review before launch. See the guarantee page for the specifics.
Working with us
What makes Columbus Website Design different?
You work directly with me in the Short North, transparent published pricing, real ownership in writing, and interactive tools so you can price a project or check your current site without a sales call. Most agencies in this field hide their pricing and lease you a site; I do the opposite.
Are you actually local, or outsourcing the work?
I am a local Columbus designer working out of the Short North, and the person you talk to is the person doing the work. No handoff to a distant team, no account manager reading from a script.
Do you only work with Columbus businesses?
Columbus and Central Ohio are home and where we do our best local work, but we build for clients beyond the area too. If you are nearby, the local knowledge and face-to-face access are a real advantage.
How do I get started?
Book a free 30-minute Zoom and we will look at where you are and map out what your site needs to do, with no pressure. If you just want a number first, the cost estimator gives you a real range in under a minute.
