It started with a simple frustration.
Too many Columbus business owners had been burned by a web designer. The one who took the deposit and went quiet. The one who built something that looked fine but never showed up on Google. The one who held the domain hostage when it was time to leave. Good people, real businesses, stuck with a website they could not change and could not escape.
I built my first website in 1996, at thirteen years old, and I have been building them ever since. I started Columbus Website Design in 2005 to be the opposite of that. A local shop in the Short North, where the person who answers the phone is the person building your site, because that person is me. Where the pricing is on the website instead of hidden behind a sales call. Where you own everything, in writing, the day it goes live.
Two decades and a few hundred Columbus businesses later, it is still just me, and that is the point. The technology has changed more times than I can count, and I have learned a lot. What has not changed is who I answer to: the local owner who trusted me with the front door of their business. And here is the part that should put your mind at ease about hiring one person instead of a faceless company. Your site, your domain, and every account stay in your name from the first day. You are never dependent on me to run your own business, and if you ever need to walk, you walk with everything. That is the safety net most agencies will not give you.

Your site, your domain, your content, your accounts. I hand you the keys in writing. If you ever leave, you take everything with you. I have seen what the alternative does to people, and I will not be part of it.

My numbers are on the site and in an instant estimator. You should know what something costs before you get on a call, not after I have you on the hook.
Local and accountable
I live here. I run into my clients at the coffee shop. That kind of accountability does not exist when your website is built by a stranger three time zones away.
Built to be found
A beautiful site that nobody finds is a very expensive business card. I build every site to load fast and rank, because getting found is the entire point.
